Yes I'm talking about the new ones. This is the first rig made for 6'4" folks in some time. I personally don't like the front and rear lack of visibility, but the leg and head room are maybe enough to make up for it. I am frankly tired of small cars!

Re: Toyota FJ
We bought a new Tundra as it is very hard to get folks in the back seat of a FJ And the head room is not good in my opinion plus the Tundra tows way better.

Re: Toyota FJ
I am 6'3" and sat in one at the auto show I didnt like it much, but then again you might be more used to scrunching a bit, my head was kinda close to the rollbar that was in there. and it had HUGE blind spots.

Re: Toyota FJ
I really like the way the "scorpion" model looks in all black (costs a bit extra to do though)

Re: Toyota FJ
The lack of visibility is very disappointing.

Re: Toyota FJ
I was considering one of these. After sitting in one and test driving it, I did not like it. It did not feel very roomy, more like a jeep.
I went with an Xterra instead. I'm 5'10" though, so not sure if that helps.

Re: Toyota FJ
I bought one for my wife last summer. At first the visibility issue bothered me but now its nothing. Dont even notice it. So far its a GREAT rig with lots of power. Maybe to much because she has a lead foot! First foreign car we have ever purchased. I have no problem recommending this rig to anyone. Besides I figure when shes ready for a new car I will just take this one and make me a great huntin rig!

Re: Toyota FJ
My Dad has an 07 FJ and I get to drive it when we are pulling the db over do the coast and the main thing like others here have said is the lack of vision out of the thing.
He took it up hunting and it did do pretty well up in the snow, I also liked the the way its rubber coated so well inside, makes it very easy to clean up after a muddy day outdoors. But it is a pain when trying to back up the boat to the ramps. You basically are driving blind.
I myself will go with something differant when I am able to get into something newer down the road like maybe a Toyota quad cab Pickup or?

Re: Toyota FJ
Love the looks of these rigs. Client dropped one here for repairs this morning. I got in and first thing I did was wack my knees on the darn dash. Seems kind of scrunchy inside IMHO and the lack of visability reminds me of Hummers. I was a little disappointed.

Re: Toyota FJ
Lack of visibility killed the sale for me. (Safety was my concern) Need to see the folks on bikes, Kids, & motorcycles. But nice thing about there they make lots of After market goodies for it.
Bought a O7 Xterra instead.

Re: Toyota FJ
Just curious but would the FJ have more or less visibility than say a extended cab pickup that had a canopy?

Re: Toyota FJ
Well now------bought one today. Seems like this is a rig that everyone hates or loves. No dealer incentive's for purchase, as most are keeping their inventories down to keep up the price. The old supply vs. demand etc. My bride and I looked through, and sat in, more vehicles than I care to admit to. Our purchase was made on two parameters. Does a 6'4 guy feel comfortable driving this rig? Does my better half feel the same way? Yes and ounce again yes! And what about--manufacturer loyalty. We've owned three Toyo's. Last one went 200K miles without a burp. I can't understand why Japanese design vehicle's for Big Americans , while everyone else wants to shove you in a tuna can? Boy---how things have changed.
Bring on a '52 Mercury------Like sittin in the living room!

Re: Toyota FJ
A friend of mine has one. Visibility is a huge problem. He has to stop short of intersections to see the stop light. The front windshield is shorter and more verticle than most cars.
I love the look and the feel of the car, but.....
