Default concealed hand gun licence classes

i looked through the archives here on ifish, and the ORS's on the matter but can't find a solid answer

i've found a class given by an NRA instructor and claims to meet the requirements for getting a CHL, the 2 things that make me question it are that the class is a rather short 2 hours ( most i've seen are many more) and you don't shoot in this class.

my sister wants to take this class as well but she says she sure you have to shoot to get a permit

does anyone know if the class you need to take has to have a live fire portion

i'm in linn county, here's the link to their FAQ
http://www.linnsheriff.org/Divisions...main.CHL.2.htm

and the ORS

It might differ county to county, but I don't think it does... Best bet is call 'em on Monday morning and ask. After reading this page though:

http://www.linnsheriff.org/Divisions...l.main.CHL.htm

Sounds like it's the same as Washington County. As far as Washington Co, you don't need to shoot to get a CCL. All I had to do was attend the 2 hr NRA class, and then submit my paperwork.

Go to the class, and ask the instructor, but I believe that's all you need to get your license.

You don't have to shoot to get the permit. But, since you live in Albany I suggest you look at this website to take the class from.

The CHL law is consistent state wide and does not require live fire to obtain a license. A two hour class will cover only the very basic elements of the law. Jim Jacobe in Salem teaches an excellent eight hour course that goes in depth into the law and includes four hours of range experience with different firearms. He can be contacted at jimjacobe@comcast.net. The Oregon Firearms Academy in Albany is also an excellent place to obtain training.

All the info you will need should be on your county sherrifs website.
