Defective Garcia Reels - Watch Out

I purchased two 4601C's at GI Joe for $21.99 the day after Thanksgiving and both of them and one of my new 5601AB's have all developed cracks or fractures of the plastic freespool thumbars, horizontally from right to left. They must have gotten a bad batch of plastic at the factory. Please check your Abu's closely if puchased this year! Don't want to ruin a steelie trip over such a problem. BTW GIJoes was good about replacing them and Damon's hadn't heard of this problem yet.

I got three at the sale, I'll have to take a look at 'em. Maybe that's why they were so cheap?

it was actually $21.88 one day only. All three of mine broke into pieces when I applied a little pressure. Called gi joes they said they would replace them as soon as they came in.

$21.99 was right ($100 list) for the narrow ultra cast version, as well as the HS-IL's. GI Joe got them special deal, left handed, maybe discontinued. either way, sale over, and maybe caveat emptor'd too. Watch those plastic freespool buttons!
