Default New Restaurant in Pendleton...

Last night on the way home from Portland we stopped in Pendleton. This has been a running joke in our family about the dining experience in Pendleton. Not good..........

We ran in to a new one. Referred there by the gas guy at the Shell station. That alone is usually a good reason to turn in another direction.

When we drove by, it looked worth a try. Two local people have dumped several milion dollars into rehabbing one of the downtown bulidings. It is old west luxurious to put it mildly.

There is an interesting decor in the Men's room. I told my 17 year old to check it out. He came back dutifully impressed with the thoughfulness that went into it. No more said.

You have to expereince Hamley's. Good food with a flair towards Seattle pricing.

Your restaurant critic, DW.

Its Hamley's. Its a round-Up attraction for sure, I have yet to eat there myself, but have heard many critics around. From great food to broken hearts after the bill. Should have stopped by the Casino!

IF your ever through this way again give Miss Patties a try. Its a family style resturant and almost everything is cooked from scratch.

My little sis works for the Hamley coffee shop and everyonce in awhile she will bring me some of the food to try. It's ok, but not for the price..btw, if you are ever at Hamley again ask to see the rest of the place, quite impresive.

Another good place is the one that Motcha speaks of...the casin, Wildhorse.

We've been to Hamley's a few times when we're home visiting. They are doing better than when first opened. We managed a reservation on opening night--never did get served. We've been back twice since and had very nice meals and service. The manager mentioned they are going to all Cobey beef sometime this spring (out of Idaho I believe). Part of the attraction to Hamley's is the restarurant building itself. It is really something. The bar must be 30 feet long. Check out the stairway to the wine cellar.

Our favorite Pendleton "fine dining" is Raphael's. Very expensive but great food if you like Elk with wild huckleberry sauce (I had this last weekend), smoked prime rib, a good selection of sea food etc. She does a great job in our opinion.

I agree, Stetson's is a good choice for steaks and prime rib.
