Favorite swim bait colors
Just wanted to see what you guys like and dislike.
I need to buy some and I don't want to waste time and money fishing baits that don't produce.
Thank you in advance for your input.

1. Blue back with pearl belly. Don't leave home without 'em.
2. Black and purple
3. Lime green with translucent belly with glitter
4. Blue back with clear, glitter belly

But I would also add Zucchini (maybe its watermellon) with glitter to the mix.

Re: Favorite swim bait colors
All of the anchovie colors.
The blueback/green or purple stripe/clear glitter belly and blackback/blue stripe/opaque glitter belly were my favorites last year and accounted for 90 percent of the fish on swimbaits for me.
I have other patterns but these make up the majority of the 400 or so baits I have.
The sardine pattens should work well also

Re: Favorite swim bait colors
I guess we are to assume the colors asked for are for tuna fishing? If not and you meant ling cod fishing than big white ones and if they glow so much the better.

Re: Favorite swim bait colors
Every color I've thrown at TUNA! has caught one, even the green with orange belly. But the majority listed by others above are the go to's and will out fish most other colors. imo

Re: Favorite swim bait colors
I would have to say 4" blue or green backs with silver flake bellies. THen black and purple. WE had one trip last year we could hardly buy a bite on purple and black ! I also like them on at least a 2oz head.

Re: Favorite swim bait colors
Is Sportman's selling FishTraps or other softer plastic swimbaits now? Or are those the Cocahoes you're talking about? God, if they have FishTraps I'm gonna have to get to Salem soon!

Re: Favorite swim bait colors
Sportsman's Warehouse will be carrying them this year.
They are in the process of adding tuna gear to the Salem, Portland and Vancouver stores.

Re: Favorite swim bait colors
How do we know that the fish are not color blind? Maybe they see in shades of gray?
