Default Daiwa Saltiga Rods

Last weekend I had Del's SA JG88 MFB 6.6 ft 15-40 jig rod in my hands. This is the new "Tri flex" constgruction. Very light and suprisingly thin rod for the strength.

I was very impressed and for about a sawbuck, I like the price.

Del spoke very highly of this rod and I respect his experience, knowledge, opinion and input, but he also has Daiwa on his shirt. So non arms length.

Anybody fish these? Know anything?

I have one that I aquired this off season. I've used it a couple of times for sturgeon but it really hasn't been challenged. It seems like it will do just fine for the albi's. I spoke with a manager at Fishermans Marine and suggested that they should carry a few. I think Lamiglass has a rod that's built with similar construction.

I saw them also, and loved the 8ft'ers. looks like a prime jig(iron) rod or heavy traps. I will be getting one from Del when they are available.

These rods are made from a combination of fiberglass and graphite. They are layered three times in different directions which is what makes them strong and light....

The retail for $100-$150 depending on the model. The Saltiga Power Slim is Daiwas version of the Shimano Trevalla Jig rod.

If you want to blow someones mind bring one of these on a halibut trip and show them how to put the whooping on a big fish with a skinny rod.
