Default New Guy

Hello out there in ifish country. Been lurking for a while trying to figure out how to make a post. Think I finally got it figured . Here's my intro story.
Many years ago when I bought my first boat ,a little 14' glaspar. After paying for and picking the boat up, and on the way home with the boat. My little 6 yr. old brother in law was with me . I asked if he wanted to stop at the boat launch and try it out . He said hey yeah. So thats what we decided to do.
We pulled into the ramp, backed down the ramp and unhooked the boat and pulled it off the trailor. My brother in law was going to stay with the boat while I parked the pickup and got the battery out of it for the boat since it didn't have one of it's own yet. So here I come down to the docks carrying the battery with me and the kid says Hey there's water in the boat. I ran over and looked and sure enough there's water gushing in from the transom. :depressed: :depressed: :depressed: I forgot the plug and jumped into the boat that was filling and finally found the plug but couldn't reach over and get it in without the boat wallowing over and sinking. So We quickly pulled the boat over to the ramp and waded in to get the plug in. Then with the boat sitting on the ramp with about a foot of water sloshing back and forth we started bailing water with a small tin can that was in the boat for that purpose I guess. While we were bailing a guy stopped by the ramp and saw us there . It turned out to be one of the bosses from work and he started laughing and said that was the hardest he had ever seen me working.
Later after bailing the boat out and loading it back on the trailor. and leaving with out our maiden voyage. I just didn't think my luck was good enough to go that day after what had happened.
After that everytime he saw me at work after that he would start laughing and ask if I'd forgot the plug lately. And you know I haven't ever done that stupid stunt again. So I guess that was a lesson for a lot of us, me , my wife after I told her, and my brother in law, and all my kids that have heard the story. That all happened about 30 yrs. ago.

HI SHALOM
I don't think I am ,who you think I am. I don't fish for walleyes. I usually only fish for salmon ,steelhead , and sturgeon in Lower Columbia River. But thanks for the welcome anyway. Maybe I'll happen to see you sometime if you fish down in the area around Puget Is.

Welcome.

Kinda reminds me of the time my dad and I were going fishing and I looked over his shoulder only to see the boat and trailer passing us while going down the road. Guess he forgot to lock down the hitch to the ball!

Hey There SHALOM
I'll be looking for that white ranger. I'm not familiar with what you refered to as the horse flats. Is that down my way or someplace else. Yeah I saw someone elses post that had a moniker similar to mine but I hadn't noticed it when I picked mine . Hope it doesn't lead to any confusion , I didn't mean to move in on his moniker sorry about that. : :
I may see you out on the BIG C on of these days. I fish quite a bit out of a 14 ft. skiff , sometimes out of my larger red and white glass boat . Hate the way the wind catches that boat top makes a nice sail but my wife likes the comfort of the bigger one better than battling the elements in an open skiff.
