Hello out there in ifish country. Been lurking for a while trying to figure out how to make a post. Think I finally got it figured . Here's my intro story.
Many years ago when I bought my first boat ,a little 14' glaspar. After paying for and picking the boat up, and on the way home with the boat. My little 6 yr. old brother in law was with me . I asked if he wanted to stop at the boat launch and try it out . He said hey yeah. So thats what we decided to do.
We pulled into the ramp, backed down the ramp and unhooked the boat and pulled it off the trailor. My brother in law was going to stay with the boat while I parked the pickup and got the battery out of it for the boat since it didn't have one of it's own yet. So here I come down to the docks carrying the battery with me and the kid says Hey there's water in the boat. I ran over and looked and sure enough there's water gushing in from the transom. :depressed: :depressed: :depressed: I forgot the plug and jumped into the boat that was filling and finally found the plug but couldn't reach over and get it in without the boat wallowing over and sinking. So We quickly pulled the boat over to the ramp and waded in to get the plug in. Then with the boat sitting on the ramp with about a foot of water sloshing back and forth we started bailing water with a small tin can that was in the boat for that purpose I guess. While we were bailing a guy stopped by the ramp and saw us there . It turned out to be one of the bosses from work and he started laughing and said that was the hardest he had ever seen me working.
Later after bailing the boat out and loading it back on the trailor. and leaving with out our maiden voyage. I just didn't think my luck was good enough to go that day after what had happened.
After that everytime he saw me at work after that he would start laughing and ask if I'd forgot the plug lately.

And you know I haven't ever done that stupid stunt again. So I guess that was a lesson for a lot of us, me , my wife after I told her, and my brother in law, and all my kids that have heard the story. That all happened about 30 yrs. ago.
