Default Where to fish?

It looks like the west side streams are blown out for another day or so (or longer). The Columbia below Bonneville should be running clean and log-free if the wind cooperates. There should still be catchable steelhead in the Deschutes if it isn't so cold my fingers drop off. Again, below Pelton and above White river, it should be clear. How far up the Clackamas would I have to go to get above the mud? Far enough to be above the fish?

Pete...The Clackamas yesterday was what I described as "Woody Water".....a nice pea green, but not quite enough visibilty to make conditions optimum.

Even though we had tons of rain last week...the level was actually dropping from about Wed. til Saturday. When considering whether waters are fishable...you also have to consider the freezing levels. Combined with lots of rain...higher freezing levels usually mean hiher river levels...lower freezing levels mean lower water levels.

According to a report here...the Sandy's lookin "prime"..but that may be different today based on the rainfall we got yesterday.

My location makes it easy for me to go look at the Clack to see it's conditions, but if you're monitoring the levels closely..you can kinda get a fair idea of how the water may look.

One thing to note here...if all the rivers are blown, and the freezing level drops..the Sandy can clear and drop majorly in a 24 hour period. So...just because we may be getting pounded with rain..doesn't neccessarily mean the rivers are muddy or unfishable.

See ya..
