Default who has been hearing birds gobblin in the whiteriver area?

Has anyone herd any birds gobblin yet in the white river unit? was over there last weekend with my son scouting for youth day. We did not hear any birds where we hunted last year, we thought we herd a half hearted gooble by pine grove. I figure they are still in their winter flocks concentrated near some type of food source. They should start breaking up pretty soon. Last year we had the same problem and found the birds the week before. I f anyone has been hearing them it would be nice to know.

I was up there last Saturday and nothing. Minimal tracks and signs. I'm guessing that they are flocked up down on some private land.

My experience over there is they are gobbling all through March, but dont break up into breeding groups until around the beginning to second week of April. I dont even scout it anymore because they head for the same nesting areas year after year if the habitat remains good.

Thats what i figured, the birds should be in the same place as last year. Youth weekend is going to be fun we will have 5 kids in camp from the ages of 9-17. it should be fun, we plan on going up on the wed night prior to get everything ready for when the kids show up on friday night. Last year we were two for two, with both of my kids harvesting their birds. So will be in the same spot as last year. The 9 year old is the first one in the shot.

That would be cool if could ever figure out how to do that. Everytime i try it says that the file is to big. I have pic from last year of my son's bird, 23.5 lbs, 11.5 in beard, and 1 1/8 spurs. There will also be girls in camp hunting to so it should be fun.

Go to the life in general thread and there is a tutorial on posting pictures with a link to a program that will easily resize your pictures.

Saturday morning they were gobbling like crazy just at sun up. Sunday they were quite. I can give you an update next week. I will be over there this coming weekend.

Two weeks back the toms were all struttin' their stuff just west of Pine Grove near Hwy 216.

One quick way to resize pics easily is to email the pic to yourself. If you use Microsoft email it will ask you if you want to make the picture smaller. Say yes and mail it. Open up the email and save the pic in it....rename it to a new "smallTurkeypic." so that you will recognize it in your pics file. Follow the tutorial but use the "small" saved jpeg.

B.S. I've got proof that they all are congregating in your favorite hunting spots. I know for a fact that isn't a gobble one in HR county these days...
