Default New Oregon angling licenses...

went on sale today at Fred Meyer, and I suppose other locations as well. They are assigning a new "permanent" number to replace the social security number ... the sooner you get one the lower a number you will be assigned. ... but read below ... they don't start counting at "1".

I don't understand this. My tag is one number and my license, one number below that.
So, by the time I got my license, did that mean the number of my license is double that of those that had gotten licenses, or does that mean some got licenses without tags, thus throwing off the count?
Anyone know?

I got mine today and didn't have any difference in my 2001 vs. 2002 license. No new number, just the same ODL as a unique identifier. I checked and haven't had a SS# or a "Person ID" on my license since '99.

Jen, my numbers are the same as your's, one different on the license and tag. It was the same on mine in '01.

Now I'm really confused!
So what were they talking about permanent numbers? Are those stored somewhere else or???

I don't know what the real story is concerning our permanent ID #'s either, but my new 2002 license # is 02-27000201-2, and my 2002 tag # is 02- 27000202-2.

Last year's License # is 01-24136489-1 and tag # is 01-24136490-2.

Well, since I started this mess, I'll call ODFW today and find out what the deal is ...

ODFW says that the new, permanent ID numbers were not printed on licenses purchased this weekend, but will appear starting today. The numbers are not based on "first come, first served", but rather on a combination of alphabetical assignment and how long ago you first purchased a license in Oregon.

Guess I won't know my permanent number till next year. I got license number 27000266 and 267 though! I wonder if it was the 266th issued for 2002?

You can call ODFW and they'll tell you your number. I understand they'll be printed on the license starting today.
