Default 9.9 Merc Hot water

Has anyone tapped into their 9.9 Merc to plumb the hot water sink in their sleds? I pulled the cover off and saw a line coming from the side of the motor to the outside housing and plugged. Is this hot water??

I have a 2002 model-year 9.9 4-stroke Merc. I had to have the t-stat housing drilled and tapped for a hot hose.

That's what I was afraid of. Did you take it to an outboard shop?

I have an "IN" with the dealer/shop in Auburn, WA. They did the work for me.

I just had mine done. The shop called Stevens and got the low down, they do a tone of them.

I couldn't find any schematics when I was looking... I'll try to take/post a pic of mine later today.

This is on my 2001 Merc 9.9 4-stroke Big Foot. I like this feature for two reasons. The first of-which is the hot water for washing hands, lures, etc. The second is that hot water comes-out only when the t-stat opens. This is nice, because when flushing my motor on the hose, I run the motor long-enough for the t-stat to open, then I run Salt-Away through it. This way I know the entire system is flushed. It takes a lot longer for the 'stat to open when on the hose than when in the water. The dealer who did the install said there are no worries about this set-up. The water that I'm getting would just go into the exhaust system and out the hub of the prop.
