Default Supreme Court Ruling.

I know there are some on Ifish who keep their ear close to the grapevine when it comes to legal issues. I think today was supposed to be the day of decision. Do we get to keep our guns as individuals or is it interpreted to be for militias only? There must be links to the testimony by now, but where. Or if you have already gotten the wording on it, give it to us --- thumbnail version.

Oral arguments went on the 18th I believe a ruling isn't expected until Summer 2008 I think.

NRA.org says June. I listened to some of the testimony on C-Span. Interesting, to say the least. All of the justices are definitely not pro-gun. It reminded me of "define is" from the recent past.

Mind you, I am not a lawyer. However, it seemed that some of them were trying to propose alternative regulations rather than to strictly judge the case on it's Constitutional merits. I thought that was the duty of the Supreme Court...to intrpret the Constitution.

At the end of the day, I guess all I can do is keep my fingers crossed.

If they rule against gun owners, I wonder how they were planning on taking these guns from gun owners. A volunteer turn in of guns wouldn't work. Imagine you being part of the team going door to door demanding all the guns. Our government on both sides, top to bottom must think we have no cajones or a means of thinking for ourselves. I work for the government and I see stupidity and money waste on a day to day basis. I am proud to say that my common sense gene is still with me. I am also aware that government employees monitor sites like this all across the web. I just can't believe that in a little over two hundred years our nation has come to where we are now.

I feel pretty stupid not knowing about this...can anyone give me the gist of what they're proposing to do or provide a link? I read the DC story, but are they trying to take everyone's firearms???

This topic isn't about hunting, it's about handguns in a crowded inner city area. Since it isn't a hunting topic, we're closing it.
