Default Crabbing Device

http://www.neptunemarineproducts.com/gtr.html

I ran across these the other day and was wondering if anyone had used them or a similar device. I am tired of donating traps to thieves and I thought this might be the ticket.

Has anyone out there used something like this before?

I have heard of them, but don't know anyone who actually went through the trouble. I don't know too many people who do overnight soaks.

Keep in mind, you need to add another 8 pounds of weight for each buoy on your trap. Otherwise your trap may not "pop up" where you found it.

One more thing to consider, if your buoy(s) is not floating, trollers cannot avoid them. A nusiance problem inside the bays, a sport troller may move your gear accidentally, or if he is a dastardly sort, he may even take your crab, but if a commercial troller snags your gear on the outside, he is likely to have line cutters on his gear. Even if he doesn't he will drag it a mile before he figures out he has it. Bye bye pot.

The trap modifiers look more interesting than the GTR. This might be the answer to the danielsen pots door problems.

Great idea! You could buy two trigger type doors like these, wire the others shut. If I didn't have six pots already, I would try it.
