Default Commerical Crabbing

I usually try to get a crabbing trip in late Nov or early dec. Can anyone tell me, are the commerical traps soaking yet, when does the season open. What is the expected price and any chance they will stay in port for a few weeks like last year. sure make a diff after the commerical boys have have been fishing for a few weeks.

Fishbait, The commercial boys could set their pots at 8a.m. ths morning and the season officially opens Dec. 1. In Newport at least no boats left port to set gear. The buoy outside the rockpile was reporting 33 foot swells and gusts to nearly 70 knots. Price is being negotiated but it sounds like a strike may be in the cards. There is some fresh crab around from the Indian fishery off Washington.

You might check this out it is the regulation book for commercial fishing, crabbing is on page 27. I think it says that crab traps can go in 64 hours before the season which as previously state starts Dec 1.
