repair of fiberglass-small tractor hood?

Looking for suggestions on repairing a fiberglass hood off a lawn tractor, that has about a 3 inch break in it. Is this something I can do myself, or do you have to take it somewhere?

You can do it. Get a kit from West marine and follow the directions. Piece of cake! Can't tell you about matching the paint though.

If you're going more for functionality than appearance, some metal strapping and some pop rivets might last longer than a fiberglass repair - - given that these cracks often appear in high stress areas and re-occur anyway.

The previous owner hit something with it, it wasn't a stress crack...

Long-n-Strong...go buy it at an autoparts or auto paint store. Mix it like bondo.

I've repaired my 73' Trihull, a buddy's jet ski and also used it for some patch work on a racecar.

Good stuff...easy to use.

Its as easy as paper macha. then sand it smooth and paint it. Tap plastics in tigard has what you need and the sales lady will explaine exactly how to do it.
