Default Prawn Quickfish

I took several creations out today to see if they wanted to fish.

Some of them looked like they might fish, some of them, well lets just say... they looked good on paper. Some of them I had to wait so I was alone so nobody else would see them. (sorry Pete) Top secret and all

This one actually looked like it might work and I wanted to share. I made a quickfish out of cedar and attached a wire to the tail that goes up thru a hole in the bill. First pic is of the unrigged unit, the second one is with a prawn on the quickfish. I know I could just tie one on, but this looked a little different with the prawn being away from the body, rather than smashed up and tied to it. The other design (not shown) that allowed the prawn to spin behind the quickfish needs a little more R&D But I think I can make it work.

Water was cold near St Helens, saw the seals with 2 fish, saw no fishermen with springers. :depressed:

Roy you need to get ahold of the latest Salt Water mag and start making tuna lures!

Roy --- Let's take this to its ultimate conclusion. Why not do a conventional baitwrap using prawns instead of sardines?

Time for a field test. Like today. I'll report back.

6:35 PM. Report: No joy. :depressed: But then again, for maybe 50 boats one fish was taken. Will try again in two weeks....

I have to say, having seen this beauty in the water, it swims really well! Really an amazing creation ... as were the dozen or so others I saw Roy testing. Well, the one doing the backstroke might be a little lazy, but most of them were amazing!

I have wondered about making a Kwikfish that has some sort of Cavity in the Center where you could put any kind of bait you want inside that is vented so the scent can get out.

I like you prawn Idea though. Pretty clever. Does it effect the action of the Kwikfish ?

That looks pretty cool. I am a little concerned that when you hook the big one that the cedar body is going to give up an eye screw somewhere, hopefully the one that a hook is in and not the one attaching the lure to the mainline. :depressed: I would hate to see you lose a creation that must have taken a long time to perfect. It looks good though and would love to see a pic. with it in the mouth of a big fat springer!!!

That looks pretty good Roy, from the prototypes I saw in your garage to the water. Next step is fish in the net. Between making your own plugs and tuna lures you are going to have to go into the tackle business. Oh yeah and rod building also, you better quit your job and get to work on the new business.

Once again you have inspired and motivated anglers
with some very creative concepts in tackle.
I am wondering how many more fishing people will now go around the house/yard looking for some cedar to carve or start hanging different cominations of baits off their kwikfish. I gotta go back to the hardware store to buy some more little eyes and ask them if they are guaraunteed not to come loose on springers. The doctor said I can get back to carving once the stitches are out and try wearing a kevlar glove next time.
