Default Sturgeon Hunter

Fished downstream around the corner today. First spot, 6 in the boat, one 45" keeper....all at the slack. When the current started to run out, the bite died and we only hooked 1 more shaker. Moved 5 times. Very light pressure, (4 other boats).

Slack tide rocks.

I'm going up below Bonneville Friday, were you anywhere near there? I've heard the same kind of results there.

I was mid river downstream of Portland. If the bite was as hot as strgnslyr said, then I went to the wrong spot.

strgnslyr, how was the wind at the dam? It had been reported at around 15mph. True or false?

Interesting thing about downriver was that the bite absolutely stopped when the slack was over. During the slack tide, we had 6 fish with one keeper and one about 41". We were pretty encouraged and then it died. It also coincided with the rain. Low pressure passing over? Fish go to sleep?

There was obviously more water in the river than 2 weeks ago and the tide turned earlier than the tables predicted. We tried to fish out of the current a little, but it didn't seem to yield anything either.
