Smily,

Good report. Looks like the conditions are right. Better luck this weekend. What days will you be on the river? Might see you out there drifting.

Hey guys,
Keep me posted on the Sandy if you get out again, I am going to try and get out sometime this weekend as well. Not going to float though, thought I would plunk a spin-glow with some eggs at the big rocks below the rope hole. I'll keep an eye out for you if I make it out.

Default Sandy river Report

I drifted down from Oxbow to Lewis and Clark on Tuesday looking for the Almighty Steelhead. Had a couple of bites out there. We had eggs and shrimp and hardware out there but had no hook ups. I take that back, one fish landed. A 12" Sucker fish on hardware.
Was a beautiful day out there as the rains held off till the last half hour and then broke loose. Couldn't ask for better conditions the water looked like it had a 3-4 ft visibilty and everything seemed right but no fish. Gonna try again over the holidays.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

Drove by this morning and looked at it and it looked good. Now by looking at the river report it looks like it's blown out for probably a good 2-3 day's. The rain did look like it was coming down side ways which never looks promising. Does anybody know if the Clackamas gets blown out as easily?

Aborted the Sandy River this morning as I did not bring waders and you will need them to get out to the gravel bars in most spots.

Noticed the river is beginning to drop. Perhaps tomorrow the first winter steelhead will be reported.

S******* our trips too. I was down by the Clack today and it is only 15.2. That's down from 17.2 last night! Not really muddy, but visibility is only 1 to 1.5 feet. Maybe by Sunday they'll be in shape, but I think that's only IF we don't get any more rain. Probably better just to work on the sturgeon and the ducks.

Who knew S-c-r-a-p-p-e-d was a bad word?

A crow greeted me as a pulled up to the river. Kinglets fed in the willows - the only shrub optimistic enough to still be hanging onto its leaves to grab the last rays of the growing season. Dippers foraged in the shallows - eating tiny morsels and an occassional minnow. A King Fisher called from its high wire perch. Gulls soared and Mergansers cruised the eddys. And I thought it might not be worth going fishing this morning.

PS -- The river is dropping into shape nicely. Two-three feet visibility, olive drab and 48 degrees. No bites.

Fished Sunday at Oxbow, River looked good and dropping.
Talked to several fishless people and even met a fishless fellow Ifisher.
It was a fine day, but NO fish!
I guess it's still a bit early.
