I need a job, bad.
This is hard, really hard, and embarrassing, but it's time to swallow my pride and ask my ifish friends for help. My financial situation is getting ugly, fast.
I need a job, like yesterday. Any job. Well, almost any job.
I've been in construction all my adult life, over 30 years now. I've seen my share of ups and downs. But, this is as bad as I've ever seen it.
In the past, I was always able to find SOMETHING. But since injuring my back back in 01, manual labor is no longer an option. That's how I ended up in construction management. I was damn good at my job, too. Then the housing "crisis" hit.
For more about my work history and my resume, let's take it to PM, OK?

Re: I need a job, bad.
Don, sorry to hear about the job. You know I did construction all my life also, I lost my job in Sept. and I couldn't find a const. job. I went and got a CDL in Nov., it took a few months to find someone to hire a new driver, but I did. I don't make the money I did as a superintendent it's a little less with over time, but it pays the bills. I don't know if thats an option for you with your back. I had to find something else, and hope that construction picks back up. Give me a call.

Re: I need a job, bad.
I hope you find a good job Don.
A little bit of something is better than a whole lot of nothing. I see position open at Bimart, and Lowes. Working behind a sporting goods counter, or in a building material dept would suit your background. I know those jobs dont pay great, but they are better than making nothing by a long shot.

This is one of the fastest growing companies in the area. Every time I see a new sub-division they have their name all over it. Good luck and God bless

Re: I need a job, bad.
Boeing is still hiring like mad and will be after a BUNCH of the people retire in the next couple years.
I know a couple months ago they were really looking hard for facilities maintenance people. Just head to boeing.com and look around. They don't have much going on in OR and I'm not sure you want to relocate.

Re: I need a job, bad.
I've received some pretty decent leads. One in particular from a very surprising source. I have a meeting with him Friday. It's a temporary position, but it's something. I'm still looking for a permanent gig.

Re: I need a job, bad.
I second the Depot/Lowes idea, At least it's something to fill the gap while you look for something better. Thats what I did for two years, Depot was a great place to work during that time, I've got nothing but good things to say about them as an employer! pretty decent benifits too. If you can get into the Recieving end of it, it's even better, 8-4:30 M-F, no weekends!
Good luck on your search!
