Default braided line/leader question

I've never used anything but mono but I'm gonna try powerpro on my spinning rod. My question is do you use a leader or not. The line I ordered is 15 lb 4lb diameter, and it seems like you'd have to use a leader in case you get hung up on the bottom. Can you tie a blood knot with powerpro or is there a special knot you have to tie? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks Scott

I put 10' of 10lb fluorocarbon (mono works too) on the end of my 20'lb Power Pro. If I hang up on something the 10lb breaks and I don't leave the Spectra in the stream.

A blood knot will slip with Spectra line, I use a DOUBLE UNI KNOT to splice the fluorocarbon to the Spectra.

Also the Braided with a mono leaderis a great idea. The mono has some strech to it and acts like a shock absorber. The braided has no strech to it.

A swivel works well between the braid and the mono leader. Use a palomar knot to attach the swivel to the braid. If you don't want to use a swivel, use the double uni-knot to join the braid to the mono. All other knots will slip eventually, even a nail knot. A triple surgeons knot might hold, but it's bulkier than the uni.

I agree with the Double-Uni but use more than 4 turns with the braid. More like 7-8.
