Re: Waldport Crabbing?
My boyfriend and I were in Waldport last weekend and did not do well at all not manny crabs in the bay yet. Fish and game was there and he said that there are not many in any of the bays right now. I know it gets better in June and July. If you can get to the end of the old dock at incoming and high slack. Do not use fish as bait in an open ring the seals will take it and trash your ring. Old chicken works the best. As for herring I have seen them but never jiged for them there I only have in Newport.

Yeah! And what's with the moniker? Do you like to set fires and drive a TJ?

Re: Waldport Crabbing?
Russ,
It has been very slow as of lately in the bay. As for baitfish, yes there are some around, but not till later in the summer. Chovies are more the norm than herring. I jigged up about 50lbs of chovies late in the summer.

Here a few years ago I went out halibut fishing on a charter boat Ms Raven with my ex-husband the owner of the boat was his uncle. I was the only girl on the boat and I took bananas out for a snack so they were giving me a hard time in fun all the out to the fishing ground. when we got there I hooked a fish just as the bottom fell out of a wave the boat owner grabed the back of my pants to keep me in the boat. but I got the fish in and did not go over the edge! It was the second largest fish of the day, and I hooked several of the fish for the other guys on the boat. I did not get any more junk about my bananas or being a girl out on the boat.
Thank you all for the welcome
