Well, I got in Friday night, very late, from Hawaii, where my boss was kind enough to send me to a convention on the island of Maui. Needless to say, not all of the seminars really had to do anything with what the I and the other manager who went with me do, so we skipped a couple of them and went FISHING!!! Unfortunately, we didn't have the time or the funds for a deep sea fishing trip, but we were able to fish from the shore for a few hours here and there. The fish there are amazing! I caught 12 of them, and it seemed like nearly every time I brought the line in it was a different kind of fish. They were beautiful! The funny thing is the guy at the bait shop said that it's the off-season, and nobody has been catching anything, and when we went back for more bait and told him what we caught he was surprised that we got anything. Imagine that, a bait shop telling you that you wouldn't catch anything. Unfortunately, we didn't have any way of keeping the fish in our hotel room, so we let them all go.
It was a nice change of pace from salmon, trout, and steelhead, and the convention people fed us free cocktails every night on top of it! Maui is a very beautiful island, and I count myself very lucky to go at the company's expense. While it was rainy and cold here, we were basking in the sun (when we didn't have seminars) and catching fish we will probably never have the opportunity to catch again. Here are some pics of the fish I caught.
