Default Too early for Coquille?

I haven't been fishing this river long enough to have a diary to refer back on to see when winter steelhead have started showing up in this river system. Anybody know if it is too early for winter fish down there? I know that the Elk/Sixes is the place to be for salmon and other drift boats. Just thinking about getting away from that, but I don't want to totally waste my time.
Thanks,
WW

Default Re: Too early for Coquille?

Probably a bit early for a trip down here.. The water above Gaylord does not open until Dec. 1.
There should be some steehead in a couple weeks.. Dec is usually the start.. mid-Dec is better.
Let me know if you need some more information.

We they STEP program neeted the Shell hole in Myrtle Point three weeks ago they picked up 3 hatchery fish, so there are fish in the system.
