Default John Day River

Thinging about fishing the John Day in the clarno area, From drift boat have'nt fished it before. any idea's???. Lippee

From past experience and reports from this year, I think you would be better off staying down low, closer to Cottonwood. The water hasn't came up much to push any fish upstream yet and I've heard good reports from the mouth to Cottonwood. General problem with the John Day is lack of puclic access. Only public launch in Clarno leads to a long float to next takeout (3-6 days in low flows).
