Default New Member intro

I finally decided to take the leap and join Ifish, I have been one of the many lurking. I'm an avid fly fisherman and try to get out and fish as much as possible, at least once a week. My favorite fish to fish for are Steelhead, not fry as it says. I haven't figured out how to change that yet. I fish all over the NW but mainly only for steelhead, once you feel that tug on a fly rod you are addicted for life. I'm always willing to play hookie from work so if you are ever looking for someone to join you on the bank or in a boat send me a pm.

Thanks,

JRV

Welcome to IFish. Lots of good information here.
The way to change your "Fry" status is to make a lot of posts.

Welcome JRV! It's kind of a tradition to tell a fishing story about yourself when first signing up. Got any good stories that'll help us to get to know you better?

This one time at band camp........ Just kidding never went to band camp.

The best, or worst , fishing story that comes to mind is. I had just purchased this piece of crap wood drift boat, I think I paid $150 for it, sanded it down, did a couple reapirs thought it was ready to take down the river. The folllowing weekend my Dad was going to be in town visiting so I thought we would float the sandy and try and pick up a springer or two.

We launched at Oxbow park, by the time we got down to the gravel bar, below where they have the Spey Clave, I realized we had a major problem. the boat was gaining water, by the time we new it we had water up to our knees. we rowed to the gravel bar picked the boat up the best we could and drained the water out. it turns out that the floor was rotting it had actually came undone from the side of the boat.

realizing thier was no way we would make it to Dabney park we decided to walk the boat back up river to the boat launch. this may have been the dumbest thing we have ever done, if you haven't tried to walk a drift boat up a set of rapids I dont suggest trying. I'm not sure how long it took but we made it. needless to say but a cold Beer had never tasted better.

that boat didnt float very good but it made one hell of a bon fire.
