Default Sturgen at the Dam

What a great day at the fishery. Boat in water at 6:30am, Lines in water by 6:45am Three keepers and 25 shakers to the boat by 11:00am. Out of the 25 shakers 4 over 37inches. It was truly a great day. Weather was great no wind and some great fishin buddys. Eddie you missed out on a real clinic, with no WD40, ask Texas Rig.

Congrats on the fishing clinic, sounds like your dialed in. I really missed out, wish I was there.

Did you leave any behind and what was the bait of choice?

Thanks for the report,

Gregg

Yes it truly was a great day at the Fishery. Headed up there for the first time today. No wind and fish were plentiful. Boated 40 shakers or so but only one keeper (43").

We fished across from Horsetail Falls on the Washington side in some pretty deep water. Smelt and squid were the ticket (with and without WD-40 ). Heck even just a chunk of squid was enough.

One question for you regulars, Where is the current? Where we were the current would just dissappear at times. My sea anchors would literally hang vertical at times. I ran my troller half the day so I could hold my spot.

Sorry too hear of your luck RW. My fishing partner had a day just like yours. It was Karma....he usaully out fishes me and loves to rub it in. He got his with both barrels yesterday!! As for the bug and the windsheild theory. I was the windsheild in more ways than one. A damned yellowjacket got down my shirt and I got hit four times before I could get my clothes off.
Still wouldn't change a thing about the day.

Waterdog current was good up river on Oregon side. We fished just west of the fishery and had sea achors out they held good.

We had been using 6oz lead had to go to 8oz on Saturday. We used smelt only.

Mo fish sounds as if you had a great day for keepers. When are you going again? Todd will you show me how to catch those gators? Please? Billy said Jason was pretty pumped up. Also said Thomas is getting pretty good on the hook set, great job keep it up call later.

With the low flows coming down the Columbia, I believe the tide can affect current up to the dam. Ellsworth Washington (at the 205 bridge) is the last tide prediction on the river and only 20 miles from Skamania Island. High tide at Ellsworth for the 17th was 9:02 am. The river probably went slack between 10:00 and 11:00 am at the island with appreciably slower currents 1/2 hour before and after.
