Default What a great day

It was one of those days where you are the hot boat on the river. Fished the fishery landed a 52"(squid) and I took a rookie who had never sturgeon fished and hadn't fished in 5 years he landed a 59.5" had to measure a few times to be sure. We went out with both fish. My thanks to Rauly for the smelt it is in great shape. Heading back tomorrow with the wife she says she wants a 59"r now (sturgeon that is).

How was the wind? Sunday is forecast for 25-35 mph east winds and gusty. Was planning on putting in early up there myself, but don't know if I want to fight the wind. May just go hit Kelley Point.

It was truly a nice day. It so great to hear that other boats had good luck too. One boat just up from us was there same time we got there and fished all day and only saw one shaker.

Have fun Sunday.

Congrats to fish-on on the great sturgeon trip. Another good gorge report. Sounds like the gorge is the place to be. I've never landed a 59" fish, they've always fell a little short. Last year I landed a 57 incher that had the tip of the tail ground completely round. If the tail was intact, I'm sure that fish would have been over.

One of these days I'm going to have to drag myself up there. How was traffic at the launch?

thanks for posting your report.

Gregg

Gregg,

The launch and recovery was not bad at all. I arrived at 7:30 and waited 10 min maybe. Recovery would have been a 2 minute deal if it werent for the gents in front of me who backed the trailer in too deep and then didnt have boots.

Get out there!

You said it!!!
The mighty Columbia was like a well protected lake. Yesterday was indeed the best day I have ever experienced on the Gorge water and not just because of the weather. The fishing was better than expected. Ther were stringers of Gators "finning" behind almost every boat.
