Default Ifish Predator Safari Stories

Well my weekend started when huntnfish left my place at 2:30am friday morning we were hunting around 7am we did a few sets walked a big loop calling in four places not to get any action then when walking back to the truck we have a yote challenge us with some barks we called back but we had been busted.
We got to camp set up stuff had something to eat and went out for the evening hunt We set up and called a few places the lat set for the day had me call in a Coyote in about ten yards away on my off hand side the bad part was he came in the back door and by time I caught him out of the corner of my eye he was running for the next county I shot off hand at him once and missed it is hard shooting off hand with the wrong eye then got in the right stance and took another shot but at this point I was just burning powder.. Returned to camp to see it had grown from the time we left for the afternoon hunt from a camp to a small city it was great. We sat around the fire ate some good food relaxed met all the new people and had a few ok maybe more then a few beers. Rust gave us a great Demo on Coyote hunting full of great info and tips Thanks Rusty.

The next day for me started at 5am when I woke up and it was freezing me figuring it was cold and everyone was going to be getting up soon to hunt first light I got up got the fire started and sat and enjoyed the stars for a bit of me time at the fire. DAB showed up as planned and we started to make plans for the day. DAB and I left just before sunrise and made a few sets over near glass butte our first set after we had finished the set we had really messed with the locals we had some coyotes barking and yipping all over the place but non of them would come in once again Busted! but great non the less it was snowing a bit and had snowed a bit that night so it was great out.

Back to camp for lunch and some chit chat and it was time for the next hunt DAB and I left and when down into Christmas Valley and drove out a road away from most if not all of the other hunters we found a place with a lot of rabbit tracks and Coyote Scat but did not manage to get any to call back and did not call any in or get and talking back to us.

Back in camp sitting at the fide under blue cold sky trying to figure out what to do next I decided to head back over where DAB and I had called that afternoon for a little sunset call with my caller and two great Guys Rynreevs and your buddy these two coastys had a long day and were not having much luck getting any response so we busted out a great set over a dry lake bed full of scat and rabbit tracks. We had dogs talking back to us 360 deg. And had one Bad boy challenge us from about 1000 yards out but I had left my mouth calls at camp so could not challenge him back cause I do not have one on ElCheppo caller I will next time for sure. We could never get one to come in but to have about 6 or 7 dogs yipping and barking back at you lets you know you rattled some nerves and you know sooner or later one of them will come in.

I had a great trip I had to leave a little early cause my IBS was really starting to hurt DAB and I got home about 3:30am and I crashed at his place what a great weekend and I cant wait till next year but next year I will have an AR, a Cot, and a lot more callers.

Thank you to all that came out and became a part of the Camp Ki Yot ee what a great weekend good food good bear and Funny stories! It truly felt like camping with a Family! Thanks everyone Rp

Big thanks to Dale and Gary for the Catfish and Ron for the Albacore. Some of the best fish I've ever had. Made the trip all the more worthwhile. The only complaint was someone (who will remain anonymous) insisted on getting up at 5 to get the fire started.

Some of us are happier well rested and cold.

Well... We had made three different stand near Christmas valley the first morning, but the wind had fouled us. On out third stand, we had a dog wind us as he prefered to bark at us instead on come in closer.

OMMedia and Myself stopped by camp for a few minutes Saturday afternoon. We got a chance to meet Rusty right before he left. Ryan Pultz ( I hope I spelled you name correctly) and a couple others. We didnt stay long as we were trying to make it to another place near Prineville to finish out the day. We wanted to get back over and say hello but if just didn't work out.

Our weekend hunt with our daughters was extremely fun.

All in all, we made multiple stands over two days and only ended up killing one coyote all weekend - Sunday. We did see; over 200 deer, over 100 elk, over 100 antelope, 5 coyotes, one 5 pt elk shed and a bunch of dead sage rats. I'll post pics tomorrow eve.

I had a fun extended weekend! What a great crew. We did have a little snow in camp.

Of coarse the nights around the camp fire were fun.

Of coarse the master teaching the students. Of coarse Rusty was the only guy to shoot a dog this weekend.

I think this was Hunterholic's crew. Interesting load on the ATV.

No this ford is not broken down, this is how we make coffee in the woods. Tom H. pulled a certain Dodge out a little mud hole. In the back ground is Jakidog's set up.

Here is the home away from home. The maiden voyage for the Springbar tent, I like it. This is where the secret recipe was applied to catfish and tuna.

the samurai test run was good, stuck it on the first bad road on the ice. handiman jack and tire chains drove it right out. on checking it today i found the front wheels are locking in but the drive shaft is not turning the wheels. strange problem. trip was a fun one

Well got the pics off the camera, but can't get the ones on the phone.
Here's the pics from our 2008 Predator Safari
(Feel free to email me any pics you have and I'll add them. Email addy in my profile.)

Well I don't know about you guys but I had an AWESOME TIME! Great crew, good weather and lots of excitement. No dogs for me but had action. Ryan had one sneek in on him from behind at about 5-10yds resulting in dead sagebrush. Had others bark at us. Nancy & I seen a couple and tried a set but wind direction not in our favor. Something tells me these locals have been educated quite a bit.

And of course you've all heard about the Hunt'nFish mud rescue. Gotta give thanks to all that came to our rescue. Super bunch of guys, AND Gals! Weird being stranded & stuck in the mud while carrying a txt message convesation with Jimbo and rest of Ifish that night. Thanks Rauly & Pete for help relay info to Rusty. And Mavrick I'm so glad we caught you on the cell. Sure shortened the wait a bunch.
MORAL: Avoid mud! AND pass the clipboard around for cell #'s BEFORE you get stuck.

And of course great food and good drink to round out the weekend.
We might have to talk about a RAT Hunt, otherwise the withdrawls will kill me.

Anyway, enjoy the pics and I'll continue to work on getting the rest off the phone.
Come on, lets see your pics.

We had a great time on our first ifish outing. Got in around 5pm on Friday and camp was pretty full so we took a spot 100 yards down the road. Met a few of you and liked the mix of personalities we encountered around the camp fire. We got busted on three different stands on Saturday and one on Sunday but had a great time anyway. Here are a few pics.
Camp

My sweets glassing an area.

Me doing the same last afternoon Sunday. This was after we got busted and were just looking around at the beautiful scenery.

Nice shot of the Sisters as we headed back to the valley.

Yes, those mountains were just beautiful!!! Could you believe the snow up on the pass? Sounds like we picked the perfect time, snowing again up there.

I know Kody and I are all for a Rat hunt. Just need a place to shoot, and a few friends to have a good time with.

Did I have a good time??? You bet your BIPPY I had a good time. It was a long drive over bu my self, got there at 3:20 am got some shut eye till RP woke me up with the sound of a crackling hot fire . Read RP post that is how my day went. Stayed in camp during the evening hunt as I fell asleep on the last set RP and I were on, mind your bees wax I was standing up holding on to a fence Don't have any idea how long I slept .

Thanks to the cooks that treated us all the the scrumptious food Saturday night.
Enjoyed the talk around the camp fire Sat. night. I would have stayed till Sunday but RP wasn't feeling good because of his IBS. so had to get him home.

Once again thanks to every one that was there for the GREAT TIME.

DAB

PS. I would go for a rat hunt get together.
