Why o' why didn't Shimano leave a good thing alone? These were and still are great reels, must be millions of them in the Northwest alone. I still fish with 3 every year. Wish they were still building these models.

The only problem with these reels are they are "wrong handed"!

Yep, nice bunch o'reels! Careful what you do on eBay. Note the seller's feedbacks and read them before you buy. If they have less than 5, they are really new! Not a big deal, but if I'm getting ready to spend a "wad" on eBay, I check it out! Also watch the reserve price. Good deal? Maybe..maybe not. I've bailed out of reserve auctions when I felt I've bid all that I would pay.

Ebay is a great place to get fishing gear or just about anything else, but use common sense. And the reels are definitely "wrong handed" for many of us. May be a good deal for someone though.

I bid it to 510.00 but I think it will go a lot higher. Any ideas on what the whole lot is worth?

My guess is about $75 per reel if in great shape. I only want 3 of them. A 200, 201, and one of the bigger ones.

I emailed the seller and asked him how he got
the reels, where the poles are, what kind are they? and is he going to sell them? I also asked
what the reservie price is.
Why would someone have 16 reels and no poles?

Thought he said he repairs reels, explains reels without poles. Look at the picture closely, there are a couple left handed reels.

The value could very well be worth over $1000. I heard that people collect these reels and often spend over $100 each for a reel in good shape. Personaly, I'm not a collector, I use reels to land fish. A reel collecting dust isn't worth much to me.

good luck,

Gregg

I must be the only one, but I have had several of these and have never been able to cast them worth a hoot. I'll keep my PR600 Quantums.

I've got a pair of 251's and they are my favorite steelhead reel ever. I haven't went out and spent the $130 for the new models but the old 251's cast great. You have any old shimanos lying around just email me and you can get rid of them.

Be careful with e-bay. The pictures they put up may not always be the actual item. That said I sure could use both of those 201's  Actually if I had the cash at the moment I would bid on the whole lot. Those are all great reels.

My father has been collecting the 100-200-300-400 Bantam's for years and has a huge collection.
Ebay is a great resource for older reels but you need to be careful!
Nov. is not the best time to by these reels..
June and July is much better.. just a thought  !
The prices will be much better in the summer away from winter fishing seasons.

That said,

I wonder why the seller chose to list them in a lot.. I would think that he/she would get more on an individual basis??
Be careful
