Fishing for U.S airpower info
Trying to find someone who knows what that airplane is called that I have heard about being used in Afganistan. I think its like a converted C-130 or something. Heard that it has more firepower than anything else flying. The one report I saw said that it can circle a football sized field and convert everything on the ground to chaff in very short order. Wish I could see it in action! I have my own earplugs.

You mean the AC-130H/U Gunship? Modern day verison of the older C-47 "Puff The Magic Dragon" gunship.
It's one mean flying machine.

Jennie,
You are mistaken. Just yesterday I was talking about Bikinis. Today I can only talk about coveralls. If momma aint happy, nobody is!

Yeah Parker, that's the machine! Thanks for the link. I'd consider traveling to Afganistan to see this thing in action. oooobaby. And Jen, to be a modern woman, you have to understand and accept the immense breadth and diversity of men's interests. Geesh

Re: Fishing for U.S airpower info
Wasn't it a C-130 that transported Keiko from Mexico to Newport? Doubt if it was a gunship though

Re: Fishing for U.S airpower info
Well actually this particular aircraft has been, and is used in the transportation of certain game species, and also in the transport of certain fish species to certain locations within this great United States so gofish is not violating any rules of this board. Your welcome gofish, us good ol boys have to stick together. Sorry Jen.

Re: Fishing for U.S airpower info
The actual capability of this C130 is classified info. It can and does kick butt. It is used for special forces as a comm. station and a guardian angel if situations turn nasty. It gives a guy a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that mans version of God is watching you do your assigned dirty deeds. This C130 is only the tip of the iceberg, we have much more!!!

Re: Fishing for U.S airpower info
Did someone mention the C-130 Hercules?
OK, now you've done it
Actually it isn't classified, but it sure is close to my heart.

Re: Fishing for U.S airpower info
This is not the Hercules as most people know it. It carries very little cargo just lots of ammo, and surveilence/ Communication equipment. It is a customized Hercules.
