Default Helio Sequence show

I went to the Helio Sequence show at the Crystal Ballroom and I have to say it was better than The Shins show back in December. We have some of the best music in the states here in the northwest and you're shortchanging yourself if you don't get out and see some of it. I've been getting out more into the local music scene of late and this band totally knocked my socks off. It was an amazing show and the best part was that they finished the encore with Tomorrow Never Knows from The Beatles. Just wow, man! For opening bands, I didn't really care for Shaky Hands, but Pseudosix puts on a good show (despite the rather flat footed tracks on their Myspace page, they really sell it on stage).

A couple more of my local music picks are Mark Twain Indians and Red Dakota Revival.

Anyone else into local music? What else should I get out and see?

Used to go looking for local bands, but been a while - so what genre is Helio?

Last Saturday night we went to the Green Dragon Ale House and saw Studio H, we didn't stay long but they were easy enough to listen to. I think they play that location every Saturday - beer was really good.

Thursdays we used to go see Rhonda Steele and her band at The Candlelight, good local R&B. The tall bartender is a fisherman love to talk fishing.

I need to put together a list of local places to go see music
