Default More tiller conversion questions

Well, it might actually be warm enough to work on the boat this weekend. Due to junk Evenrude controls that break in sub-freezing conditions (and replacement parts are no longer made), I'm considering a tiller conversion. I've got a tiller that should work (I think it's a suziki, but it will bolt right on), so now I'm wondering if I should move my gas tank. The boat is a 1860 Fisher with a 90 horse big E on it. The tank is a 12 gallon tank so when full I'm guessing 84 or so pounds. My current counsel is about 2/3 of the way back, so I don't think it will be a huge shift. What say you guys? Tillers are pretty rare over here, most guys like a windshield when it's 20' and you're going duck hunting. Wussies.

If I do shift forward, should I run a larger diameter gas line back to a fuel seperator, then the current line to the engine? If I remember it is a 1/4 id line right now, would the current siphone fuel pump have enough stones to pull the gas 16 or so feet?
