A look at the Kilchis out my back door... YIKES!

and...

This is quite shocking to go to sleep next to a stream and wake up to a raging river!

Geez Jen what are you gripping about. Now you don't have to walk as far to fish. Just get Bill to mount a rod holder on the back porch and you can plunk right from there.

Re: A look at the Kilchis out my back door... YIKES!
I'm not griping!
I already have it all set up!
I can watch TV upstairs and just wait for my bell to go off!
Dang, I hate it when it goes off.
Then I have to get up, go to the net that slides down the pully rope.
I get really tired pulling up the salmon, hose it off, filet, and dunk it in the brine for the smoker.
Takes me about 40 minutes all told, until I can get back to the TV.

Doesn't that just make you mad. A stupid fish can make you miss a half hour show and the first 10 minutes of the next. Unless it is a hour long show it's hardly worth going fishing. If I was you I would put in a long movie and then you could get more fishing done.

Re: A look at the Kilchis out my back door... YIKES!

You can recognize the two trees on the right.
I am standing on the bank, when I took this pic, which is no WAY underwater.
The water is now up about four feet into the brush and over those overhanging trees.
Up to the bank on all sides.
If I were standing there now, I'd be about 5 feet under, I wouldn't be able to see any gravel bars, the whole width of the river is churning mud.

Well, the water receded this morning, and the gravel bed came out so that I could search for neat o rocks.
Now, it is covered totally again!
ARGH!

Jen, do you think it'll be fishable by tomorrow or just a wasted trip. I've been trying to get the old man out of the house and catch some nookers, but its been pretty slow. The Kilchis is one of my favorites late in the season. I thought since your right there, you could give me the inside scoop.

I wouldn't count on it.
I can't promise, but I sure wouldn't think so, by the way it looks today.
But I'm not going out on a limb and saying no.
If it were me, I'd call it off.
But the minute I do that, it'll clear like mad and I'll be wrong.
Just can never tell.... Right now it's still up on the gravel bar. You decide! I'm not touchin it!

Re: A look at the Kilchis out my back door... YIKES!
If we could just get a high resolution camera mounted showing a live shot of the river we could all make our own call. And while your at it, one on the Nestucca, Trask, Wilson and Kilchis would be great.
Maybe we could also get some sort of fancy sensor to give a water clarity, temp and color.
Do you think we could find something that did a fish count also? Nah... that would be to much
