Default T-Bay this weekend (11/16-17)?

Since the rivers blown and this coming weekend is the only one I have to fish for awhile, a couple of questions.

Is it worth a try pulling herring in lower T-bay on the incoming tide?

Will the incoming tide bring enough crabs into the jaws to justify dropping the traps?

Thanks for any sage advice from my esteemed colleagues.

Nipper..there will be fish coming into the bay, but my guess is the water will be "mud".

Speaking of my own experiences, I have had some good days this late in the year trolling in the upper bay in muddy water. It's kind of hard mentally on you..because there pobably won't be anybody there (but you may see me  )

I can't speak for the crabbing situation, but generally...when there's a big fresh water runoff, the crabs tend to stay out of the bay.

It sounds like the rivers are running way high over there today...with more heavy rain due this evening.

If you troll the upper bay, and the water is muddy...use COPPER blades...and troll close to the shoreline.

Good luck..

I you do decide to crab I would keep the pots as close to the jaws as possible. Along the south jetty inside of the bend would be my first choice this weekend if I was going, or possibly where the north jetty meets HWY 101. The fresh water will keep big numbers of crabs from coming into the upper bay, or even crab harbor. The closer to the ocean the higher the salinity in the water will be.

Watch out for logs on the bay, this first big water will flush plenty of large floating debri into the bay which can eat pumps/props and put dents in the hull. You would be surprised how hard a log is when you hit it full speed in a boat.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll give it a whirl, unless there are too many logs bobbing around. At least I'll have plenty of elbow room and a low stress launch at the ramp.

Gee, if all the crabs are gone maybe it's time to catch some Sturgeon.
