Default Bow for my Wife

I'm looking to buy a bow for my wife. It will be her first bow, but I want it to be one that she can hunt elk with. Also, since it is yet to be seen if she will actually hunt with it, I wouldn't mind picking up a used setup or an otherwise relatively cheap setup. Any suggestions as to make, draw weight, other considerations, etc.?

Looks like you're in Eugene. Personally, I would drag her out to the pro-shop at the Bowtech Factory and see what fits her and what SHE likes.

She'll have to shoot a bow that tops out at 50lbs. My wife's BT LadyHawke adjusts from about 38 to 51lbs.

Also, the Bowrack will give you a bigger selection of manufacturers to choose from. I'd rather pick up a used bow from a bowshop than off the internet, most bowshops won't sell complete junk or something that's got flaws.

Go to the Bow Rack and talk to Wayne. He's a great guy and he will set you up right.

My daughter and wife both shoot the Equalizer from BowTech. Both girls are very small in stature but these bows are incredibly fast and smooth shooting. My daughter hunts with hers and it is currently set at 40lbs with the ability to go past 50.

My wife keeps hers about 40lbs. She does not hunt but shoot 3D quite a bit when she has time.

Equalizer stats:
Brace height - 7.25 inches (this makes is smooth to shoot)
Draw weights - 29/40/50/60
Draw Length - 24 to 27.5 inches
Axel to Axel - 33.25
IBO speed - 300 to 308 fps (at 27.5 inch draw)
Kinetic energy - 63.21 foot pounds of energy
Adjustable let-off: 65 - 80%

My fiance finally decided she wanted to hunt this year and she's looking at a Bowtech Equalizer and a Hoyt Kobalt.
