I thought that other guy in the photo looked familliar. Youngers is the man on the coast! Did you use one of his patterns? Nice pig!

Re: 16#, 35" brooder!
why kill a dark fish? You must fish eastern oregon alot, better yet you must keep dolly's from lake billy chinook. Great fish though espeacially for a fly and for the river it was caught on's water temp.

For your first post on Ifish you decide to flame someone? For your information the fish was kept because it took the fly deep and was a bleeder, the meat was still good and pink, but good job discrediting my fish of a lifetime! I hope you feel good about yourself now.

If you had ANY clue at all, you would realize that the purpose of hatchery fish is to provide a resource for catch and KILL fisheries. Plus, if you were truly concerned about wild fish populations, you wouldn't really want a hatchery fish intermixing with wild fish.
I tried seeing your point of view. I really did. But i just can't see that well with my head up my bum!
Nice fish!! I bet that was a hellavu fun fight on your flyrod!

Dude, Really? That was so not called for. I hope that there was a joke in there the rest of us missed. I'm sure that an IM with an appology would be much appreciated by a very deserving angler. I'm just a bait and tackle guy but hold the fly swingers in the highest regard when it comes to conservation and ethics. Please do the right thing here, I think every one here is willing to give folks a second chance. And lets see that traditional first story. Peace. TKK

Dark or not that is a great fish. You could color me jealous of a fish like that, great job, especially on a fly rod. Thanks for sharing your success.

ummm..... Lets see, no story, off topic comment with no relevence, and burning an established member for bonking a hatchery buck which would be a trophy anywhere? Did I miss anything? You are totally out of line. Might be best to start again, and an appology wouldnt hurt anything. -FF

This is what I would expect to see on the other sight. Very uneducated adding no value and little praise.
Again, nice bruiser, I would have killed it...but I fish the eastside so it would be expected.

Re: 16#, 35" brooder!
That steelhead gave us an epic battle. He jumped at least four times and made some long runs. It was a rush to see a fish of that size tail walking across the river!! I was glad to be witness of it.

Re: 16#, 35" brooder!
Well boys I was bashing lady angler for saying that she hoped you bonked it. I did say great fish and nice job. I wouldn't have kept it but that is just me. I like the chrome ones unless I need a smoker. Once again great job on a great fish. I will be on that river the 25th-31st in a red willies hope to see you all there. Oh yeah you want a story. Ok 4 years ago I had just started fishing a coastal river because I was going to school at wou. I was pulling diver and bait being a new steelheader when Jesse Zalonis came by chewing my ass. I smiled then tied on a egg sucking leech pattern behind my diver. Down the river I hooked a fish in front of Jesse and landed a 19lb native. Once again I smiled. Good luck to all and tight lines.

Re: 16#, 35" brooder!
Why would you think that bashing LA would get you fame? The reason for the question of killing the fish was to see whether or not the angler understood the importance of removing hatchery fish from the system. So if you feel that bashing is called for then I guess it is.
Have a nice day and see you on the river, LA

That is as bulky as any wild fish I have ever seen. For a big buck, I am sure that fish cut fine.

Well.....
Because nobody reported this post. I just stumbled upon it.
See this little icon in the lower left corner? ? It notifies us of a potential problem. Please feel free to use it. It is very much appreciated.
Now, for everybody else, please try and look at the first post which questioned the retention of the fish. It looks to me that all he did was ask a question. In fact, he even commented on a great catch.
Deep breathing.. It's easy

Re: 16#, 35" brooder!
Nice fish : ) Thank you for retaining that fish.
Dark hatchery fish need to be killed and removed MUCH more urgently then bright hatchery fish you might release if you are fishing for sport only. The idea is to get the hatchery fish out before they spawn, even if it wastes a spot on your tag....
Great job!
