Default Adjusting a Handi Rifle Trigger

I just figured out how to do this and it was easy! Learning took me some time, but now I know how I can do it in less than half hour. Free trigger job anyone?

I wonder what it takes to adjust a remington trigger?

A friend of mine got a kit from the company with instructions. Worked pretty good but it ain't like the triggers on my Remingtons. Remingtons are really easy, five min if you have to take the gun out of the stock and put it back.

yea a trigger job is really a necessity on a Handi (H&R). I also put a spacer under the forearm mount effectively free floating the barrel. Accuracy was greatly improved and now I think I want to lap the barrel.

How do you lap a barrel? I floated the stock too. My first five shots today were under 1/2" at 100. I ended up shooting a 13 shot group at a little less than an inch and three eighths. More work needed.

24.7GR H335, 2.263 COL, Sie 55gr HP, CCI 400 primer. Has anyone neck sized for the handi's?

Don: Since 888 just asked about a Remmy and I just bought a Remington (Rooskie) Spartan 18, I have a question. Haven't shot it yet. Should have the scope in a couple of days. If it turns out that the trigger is a bit tight, if you don't mind I'd like to contact you for a little info on how to do it, if you think the SPR 18 is like other Remmys. Never done it before and this is all new to me. Hope I'm not hijacking too much by asking on 888's post. Thanks.

Nice Jake. Yeah some years ago I built a fixture for stoning & fitting the parts. A sweet 1lb trigger sure brings out the hidden accuracy of these rifles. We were fond of the laminate Heavy Barrel Ultra in .223rem. Mine would shoot ragged one hole groups. Very under rated rifle if you ask me.
Let my Brother con me out of it.

I heard you can stone the barrel catch as mine does not appear to come down all the way and latch 100%.

When I had mine, I did not like the 8 pound pull, so I sent it back to them, came back with a 3 pound pull, and it made a big difference, the thing I did not like was the single shot, but that is all I need, I sold mine for $300.00 last December, with NC scope and bi pod on it, and a soft case.
Now I have the Vanguard Weatherby 4 & 1 and it shoot as good or better, longer barrel, and better scope.

Have you ever looked at the Handi Rifle section on GrayBeards?
There are a group of Handi rifle owners on there that live and breathe Handi rifles.

I have been to greybeards, but I don't know who to trust. One guy advocates recrowning your own barrel with a marble and 600 grit sandpaper?

Anyone ever done that?

sounds like the "crowning" would work, and probably help.
The problem with "inexpensive" guns is how the barrels are machined. Sometimes the tooling is worn and can put irregular grooves or nicks in the rifling. Probably the same thing with the crown.
Lapping (done by hand), or "fire lapping" (using coated bullets), essentially hones the rifling inthe barrel. Some say this is just premature wear, and some say the polishing really works. The method can be as simple as coating your bullet tips with valve grinding compound or reloading specially coated bullets (Tubbs fire lapping).
Like I posted, I'm gonna do this. My Handi is kinda an experiment anyways, and when pulling a cleaning patch I can feel it "catching" in the barrel. Yea, I'm gonna crown it now too

Hehe, I'm Crowning it right now, only with a shot glass!!

Anyone else want to weigh in on the marble and 600 grit "DIY" (do it yourself) barrel crown?

Should I give this a shot? Get it?
