Default Flashers for nooks?

I saw some fisherman using flashers down at Sellwood last week. Where do you place them on your line? Do you place them within the 5' leader or before it? Which ones work the best? I have a fish flash, kone zone, and I believe a Luhr-Jenson metal oblong one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We did real well last year trolling hearing behind a Delta Diver with a Fish Flash in the Sellwood area. You attach the Fish Flash directly to the diver. If you are using lead I would imagine that you would want to attach the flasher a foot or so away from the spreader.
