Default My Dream Boat! Go, Willie!

I have a single girlfriend who keeps a list under her pillow of all of the traits she desires in a boyfriend. She prays for that, every night.
Well, that got me to thinking. So, now, I have a list under my pillow to pray for, for all of the qualities that I want in a drift boat. I kid you not. Someday, I will have the driftboat of my dreams!!!

Guess what? I FOUND IT! I still have to pray for it, but what better guidelines to follow, then this boat? SHEESH!

Here is Tim Juarez's new Willie Drift Boat:

WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! Isn't it GORGEOUS???
Now I have a picture to go along with my prayer list, just so God is sure what I want!!!

Here is what Tim wrote me about the boat:

Quote:
Thought I would write you a small summary of my first week in my new Willie 17’ sixty inch wide diamond plate drift boat.

First and foremost, this is the best rowing boat I have ever rowed! This boat rows so easy I cannot believe it. The extra width gives this boat so much more room inside and the comfort is great! Just a couple of comments I heard this week on the water: “Is that real diamond plate or a diamond plate sticker?” I told him that it was real diamond plate and he replied “ Cool, r e a l Cool”. I came down to two fisherman on the bank and one of them said “So how many people have told you that’s the best looking drift boat they have ever seen”?, I replied to him, "This is the first day I have had it on the water!" He then said “Well then I am the first person to say it then, that’s the best looking drift boat I have ever seen”! I told him that I would pass that one to Willie himself.

I had people going down the road and turn around to come and look at this diamond plate drift boat. All in one week! So anyway Jenny, there’s the first week summary on Willie’s first Diamond plate 17’ wide bottom drift boat. Oh, it also catches fish too!

Thanks, Tim Juarez
<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Well, Tim, I can see why! That's the most gorgeous drift boat I have EVER seen!!!

Go, Willie, and Go God! Do you think there is any doubt left, that God knows what I dream of? SOMEDAY!!! I promise you that! Maybe a little smaller, but MAN!!! I love that boat!

Jennie,
Does the diamond plate serve a purpose besides looking cool?
I was thinging that it may break the surface tension of the water going by and create a bit of turbulance along the sides and perhaps making it glide better?

I saw that boat at the show. Proptly purchased a 17x60 right after that. Knew I was buying a Willie anyways but had to go with the 60" upgrade. Couldn't go with the $995 diamond plate upgrade though it does look cool. I think it is purely for show. Wonder if the diamond plate won't start hanging up on stuff once the paint gets worn down a bit and expose the diamond plating more. Love the boat though. 3 weeks till I get mine. YEE HAAAA!!!

Diamond plate will definitely hide the scratches and gouges better, that looks like the ultimate material for a guides boat! Wonder why no-one has done one before?

There's not much of the sides in the water, can't believe that it will make any difference one way or another in terms of the way it will respond. It's Willie's perfect bottom and balance that makes them the premium drifter, IMHO.

The diamond plate looks nice but I bet it would hand up on rocks in the water and on primative slide launches.

Sweet Ride though.

bugleman, I don't think they use it on the bottom, only the the sides.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Your intuitions would be correct but it would be hard to say just how much benefit you would get without testing. My friend did his senior project on the subject when he finished his Mechanical Engineering degree at OSU. They are called phasers (sounds a little Trekee to me) but look them up. They do work. All of his work was based on wakeboard design. The only thing is that they need to be on the bottom. That would seem to hang up on rocks?

I saw the Willie DB at the Sportsmans' show.
Beautiful boat! My concern would be balancing
the boat with seat boxes.

I had the same concern about the front seat boxes when I got my 17x60" at the show. So I went with the bench seat where I could slide the seats to balance the boat. The front seat on that boat is so wide that you can put three seats up front comfortably. 3 weeks and counting folks! (Can you sense my excitement!!!)

Does anyone know about the welds on this drifter? They looked a bit flatter than usual.

Oto,
Did you get a chance to see the boat at the show? To me from a distance I wasn't quite sure but when i saw it close up I thought it was pretty cool.

Saw it at the show, ran my hands over the surface. Each diamond is slightly sanded (to knock off paint). They only stick up maybe 1/8".

Very cool look...strictly cosmetic.

My thought was "War Wagon for Warez" (pardon my spelling Tim)

Nicest rowing DB made IMO. Willie pays more attention to performance, but as a fabricator, I appreciate their metal craftsmanship.
