Default Haystack Reservoir

Does anyone fish Haystack Reservoir ?
When ever I have been there the water looks green with Algea but I hear at times it is good trout fishing. Any tips ? When to go what to use. Browns, Bows etc.

I used to fish it alot whenI lived in Prineville.
March is best for the trout. Troll the No wake area with small flat fish. Troll slow........ Best colors were the red with orange and black spots, Cracked frog and silver/ blue. Put 1 or 2 BB sizes spilt shot on your line about 3 feet above the lure and fish them 50 to 60 feet behind the boat. Early morning is best.

When we trolled we either rowed or used the electric motor. Be stealthy, it pays.

Haystack has Rainbows, Kokanee and a few Browns, As well as a ton warm water fish. The trout run between 12 and 24 inches.

Good luck.

We used to nail the trout trolling. But we would scale down to 2 lb test leader and simply troll a piece of nightcrawler on a #4 hook with a split shot about 2 feet up the line.

The bass will hit trolled crawdad imitators as long as they are small.

Doesn't it get drawn down quite a bit during the summer?
