project Im working on......you might like
I started a new project tonight. This painting is on a gun stock we are donating for a Friends of The NRA dinner auction coming up. It will be a complete target shooting rifle when finished. I get to paint all the pretty pictures....lucky me! Anyhow, this side of the stock gets this eagle and a flag down the barrel and the other side gets an elk with the flag. Kind of nice to be able to do something different once in a while. I will try to post more pics as I progress. "Freedom Gun" or......what name?
Also, I believe the Auction/Dinner event I think will be March 7th in Vancouver if you want to bid on this peice. (All of us artisians who worked on it will be dead someday so it may be worth trillions. lol)

it amazes me the talent of some of the people on ifish! I just assume everyone else is as un skilled as me and addicted to fishing.  
stunning job! amazing! lets see some other work. it is all I can do to color inside in the lines with my 4 and 6 year old

Excellant work! I have tried some airbrush art in the past. It is a pretty tricky medium to work with . Waiting to see the finished work.

Ok, so I got to work on this thing again and I am going to try and post up a pic for every step of the way. Tonight I did the eagle body.
Covering up the head with acetate and cutting around feathers.
spraying base brown for body
Starting on the wing dimensions/ structure
After several coats of candy colors the body and wings are for the most part... done. (I will put more detail when I am closer to finishing everything)
Sorry you cannot see more detail. This will all come out and be even more vivid when we put a clear over the entire surface in the end. Right now it is flat and dull.
I will post more later....hope you enjoy this. I have about 10 hours into this so far.

Ok, here is the elk I worked on today.
First pic is after cutting protective outside mask I begin with structure.
Finished with the under structure.
Then, we add some color....I shortened this step up with just one pic. Lots of candy here.
Finally, we arrive at detail and close to finish....I add a top coat of intercoat clear to protect the elk while I tape over it and move on to the backround.
The quarter is there to show you size I am working with. Sorry if all the details are to dark on your monitor.

When you plunk down about 1600.00 to 2000 dollars lol. I dont normally work on these. It is a donation to a good cause. I may do something alot quicker with less detail. Flames, flag, ?

I cant imagine the guy winning this at the auction thinking about shooting with this stock. Heck, I dunno why I went to this great of detail other than I hate myself for doing this this weekend when I could have went skiing, golfing or worked around the house. My wife and kids hate me for doing this too. lol
