Default Accomodations near The Fishery?

First of all, thanks for the prompt responses on my tide chart question yesterday. The board is right on the money again.I am planning on a trip to the fishery soon and am interested in a place to stay near the launch.Sleeping in my van is an option, but i'm getting too old for that these days.An inexpensive hotel is what I have in mind.Any suggestions?Thanks......Chris

There is a campground right at the fishery. If thats not to your liking then the closest is the Phoenix(bad spelling) in troutdale. nice place and not too much $$$$$

Probably the closes lodging is in Troutdale ... about 15 miles west of the Fishery. There's camping at the Fishery, but .....

There is also plenty of lodging up river in cascade locks, and I think its closer to the fishery than troutdale. Mapquest says 8 miles to the fishery from cascade locks, and 20 miles from troutdale.

BTW, about the fishery campground .... The main rail line for the Gorge runs right along the south edge of it. The trains run 24/7 and damn are they loud at 3 in the morning! I can't believe any one would pay to camp there more than once.

CP II,
Speaking of too old for van sleeping, a friend of mine, "dampainter" bought fold out cots at GI Joe's. They are contoured, have six (?) legs and sell for about $40. I have aching, chronic minor back pain, I've slept on them and consider them comfortable.
Winter night temps are another story! :depressed:

Ainsworth state park is nearby and at this time of year it is $13/night for a tent site. It is a nice park and has showers/flush toilets etc. An added bonus is this time of year you will have the place nearly to yourself. The park closes for the year at the end of November.
