Default Fishery Update 11/6

Great day on the water today! It was a little bumpy and windy (until we left of course) but the fishing was great. We caught 45 shakers and 2 keepers. We let the 47 inch go and kept a fat 52 inch monster  We didn't see any hogs caught but saw one roll not to far from my boat. Squid seemed to outfish smelt 3 to 1 with both keepers caught on the squid. It was a great day with a lot of action for 2 rods
Oh yeah, the bait shop opens at 7:00 and the smelt that they had was the rankest stuff I have smelled in my few years of pursuing the leviathon.

Here in T mook, pressure was low. Only a few trailers at Memaloose, and not as many boats in sight... They are hiding somewhere!
2 to 4 at 5th street...
I don't know how they did. Anyone? T mook report?

Tacklebuster, just curious. Is that frozen whole squid or the pickled sturgeon candy stuff?

Good job on the 52" fatty!

Pilar,
Safeway, straight out of the box injected with a little stinky stuff. I have tried the Sturgeon candy and really didn't see the difference, other than the price. The keepers seem to be really big up there this year. I plan on going back on Monday to give it another shot

Tacklebuster, I hear you. I sure got some strange looks using that at Kelley point last spring. At least until I hooked that first big un.

The pickled squid is great as a topper for smelt. Cut a little strip and attach it with the bait loop on your hook. Then just pull the hook and piece of squid into the smelts mouth and 1/2 hitch the leader on the tail. Even if they strip your bait the squid is still fishing. It wont wear out or come off. Reminds me of ***** . They should make tires out of that stuff.

It was slow today in a strong east wind. I did manage to pull an 8 footer to the boat on my salmon rod. And I didn't even break it!

We fished the fishery with 3 rods as well. 3 oversize, 3 keepers and several shakers, we tried smelt, sandshrimp and even eel, they all seemed to work equally well
