Eagle Creek Report
Sunday I chased a rumor of fresh silvers in upper Eagle Creek. Went all the way up and fished the first mile below the hatchery. Was certainly surprised at the number of folks. I don't elbow in and it took a bit to find some water of my own. I did notice that no one had any bright fish on the bank.
There were plenty dark fish about and it was certainly fun to see so many in all the holes and working up through the flats. The air had that rich rotting salmon smell from all the carcasses already lining the banks.
I did catch (and released) one bronzy color hen. Compared to the ripe fish others were dragging around this was a ‘chromer'.
A very nice day to be out on the river and seeing the salmon doing their thing, but no schools of bright fish – maybe they were lower down and I just missed them.
