chinookin's dad
Well, as much as I want to have a better year this year, it is not starting off very well. The Dr. told my dad he has multiple myaloma bone cancer. He got it confirmed today and on monday he goes back for the results of the bone marrow biopsy they took today. This will tell them what stage it is in and weather it has matastatized, or if this is even primary cancer. Seems he already has 2 holes in his upper arm bone. There has got to be an end to all of these terrible events sometime, and everytime you get up....bang, you're flat on you back again. So once again, I come to this board and ask for all of your prayers, that it is fixable, and the chemo isn't too hard on him, and I can get my surgery done and over so if needed I can go help take care of him. God bless you all!!! One of these will be a good news thread very soon God willing, I know I sure am!!

Re: chinookin's dad
Hey Brother Just remember God will never give us stuff we can’t handle but he never promises it will not hurt like heck. Sometimes life feels like we are getting drug through the gravel all you can do is pray for some Relief and hold on. I like How CS Lewis put it )in my words cause cant remember the exact quote) I can do all things through Christ as fitting a Camel though the Eye of a needle but just think how the poor camel feels being pulled out in one long bloody thread. It’s your turn to pass through the eye of the needle man you can make Bruised battered and scared but you will make it. I will be praying for ya Brother God bless rp

Re: chinookin's dad
Found the Exsact quote
All things (e.g. a camel's journey through
A needle's eye) are possible, it's true.
But picture how the camel feels, squeezed out
In one long bloody thread from tail to snout.

Re: chinookin's dad
Got the news tonight, Dad is at a stage 3 of 3 multiple myeloma. I was wrong when I said bone cancer, seems this is a blood cancer that accumulates in the bone marrow, and the holes it is making in his bones are actually the tumors. It has spread to all the bones in him, and he will start aggressive chemo by the end of the week. I didn't get too much out of him before his voice went shakey, and I couldn't handle it any more, so didn't get much more then this. His kidneys are ok, He will have to get blood taken 1X per week to watch for renal shut down as this chemo is really hard on the kidneys. When (and I do mean when) he finishes 6 months of chemo, and 3-6 months of infusions (not sure of what yet) he will have stem cell transplant as that works better then bone marrow transplant since the actual cancer is being formed in the lymph nodes. I don't really get what the heck is going on.....I am a believer, as is my wife, we try to live a good life, Have prayed really really hard for things to change as we have been dealing with one thing, really tragic thing after another and we are both just so tired. We are both hurting physically and mentally. My wife is going in for a CT scan Wed. for pain in the abdomen they can't find with ultra sound or endoscopy, so now they are going for the dye thing. Brings back a lot of memories of when her mom was diagnosed with lung cancer. Alot of you I see praying for us now prayed for us then and know what we have been through the past 5 going on 6 years now, I want to not have tragedies for a while, God knows, with all my heart, and same with my wife, peace and untrying times is what we want. I will post more when I can get more info. Thank you all for your prayers. Not just the ones that post but ALL of the ones who pray for us, it means a lot. Mike
PS This is NOT a curable disease, but can be managable. Lots of variables.

Hey Chinookin, My mom was recently diagnosed with the very same thing and at the same stage, she starts Chemo on Monday and will probably do the stem cell thing as well. I just got home from helping get some things organized around her house so she wouldn't worry about it while on the chemo. I will be praying for you and yours as well as mine. Gods peace and comfort to all of us through these times.
Dave

Re: chinookin's dad
Thanks Dave and EVERYONE on here that is praying for us. Will find out results of ct scan on my wife tomorrow......both a little nervous. Found out today, I have diabetes, kicked in from the heart attack, but probably would have gotten it sooner or later with my family history, Doc says if your borderline it is not uncommon for a heart attack to "kick it in". I guess this will be a concern for the healing of my hip replacement now, but I don't think it will be huge, as I am not to the point of needing insulin or anything, just wasn't expecting that one as I have always ran in the 80's-90's. When they did the test, 2 hrs after drinking that stuff I was still up in the 290's for blood sugar and even I knew that wasn't good. So please could you add that to the list? Thanks, Mike
