Yaquina River launch question...
Last fall I noticed a small paved launch upriver from Toledo several miles. Can any of you tell me what's it called, and more importantly, directions on how to find it. Thanks.

I Can't recall if that launch has a name, but it's easy to find. Just go past the GP plant in Toledo, across the bridge, then follow the road a couple of miles. You'll pass a boat repair place on the left a quarter mile or so before you reach the launch. There's a small park at the launch site, and plenty of parking. Good fishing.

Bluebeast,
There are two launches above Toledo. The first described by RL is called Canyon Quarry and there is a second up river at the mouth of the Big Elk at Elk City. Should be fish in that area now.

Re: Yaquina River launch question...
I don't have the name, but can offer some crude directions to get there. There are actually two ramps, one below town near the airport and the other further up the bay.
If your heading into Toledo from hwy 20, travel into the main city center area. There is a sign on the right, should read Elk City, Airport or something similar, not sure exactly. Turn right and stay on the main road heading towards the GP mill. The road loops around the mill. Not far after you leave the mill, the road moves up a small hill. You'll come to a split or "Y", the right fork leads to the airport and a boat ramp below town, the left fork heads towards Elk City and another boat ramp, that's two ramps if you include the ramp at Elk City. Keep on this road, after you leave the houses, the Yaquina tidewater runs along the left side. There is a boat ramp on the left apx. 2.5 miles from Toledo. If you stay on this road you'll run into Elk City and the ramp in town, nice ramps, dock and facilities.
good luck,
Gregg

Here's a picture of the Cannon Quarry ramp. The ramp in Elk City is nice, but you have to watch the tides - can be a little tricky otherwise.

That figures, saw this post awhile ago with no responses. So, being the nice guy that I am, decided to try and post some ugly directions.
Thanks for helping out RL and dock rat,
Gregg

Re: Yaquina River launch question...
AllThumz,
How recent is that picture? Is there any ramp left with the water that low or does it just drop off? I've only launched from the Elk City ramp and never used the Canyon Quarry ramp. Looks like you need to watch the tides here too judging by the picture.

Re: Yaquina River launch question...
I took it on June 20th of this year at about low tide. From what I could see, there was still some ramp left, but that snotty mud at the bottom of the ramp looked pretty treacherous.

Re: Yaquina River launch question...
Couple questions:
What is the run timeing for this river? Start, finish.
How much boat will this river handle?

Re: Yaquina River launch question...
WD, it can handle a pretty good sized boat but watch for underwater wood. More than i've seen on any river. We put in at Elk City last week, hooked 4 and landed two nice hens and a jack under bobbers approximately 2 miles below the ramp.

Re: Yaquina River launch question...
WD,
The run timing on this system is a little later than the Alsea or Siletz. It should be good for a couple more weeks, that is if it doesnt rain all that much. The Yaquina river can get real dirty and stay that way for weeks.

Re: Yaquina River launch question...
Thanks guys. Don’t know if I’ll make it there in time, but next year for sure. Got a line on a small boat that may be just right for tidewater. Wait till the wife finds out.
