Smokeing Dope
Yesterday, I stoped at Miky D's for a soda pop, and making sales call for today, any way, as I was sitting in the company truck, I was watching 4 people who came out of the building and were chit chatting, one guy (3 tooth Billy wonder) and his lady friend, and 2 other guys started laughing, I looked up to see what they were doing, and here in plane site, Mommys & Daddys walking buy, with there kids, and they were fireing up joints, and passing them around to each other.
I guess some just don't care, I was wateing to see if one of Bend best would pull in, but not this time.
I would of called the police, but by the time they got there, they would of been gone.
What is this town comming to??????

Re: Smokeing Dope
My job comes in contact with drug users all the time and I am amazed how many people in the 50s and 60s are still testing postive for illigal drugs. My saying at work is "Grandmother, put down the bong" Very sad!!

Re: Smokeing Dope
Could have been medicinal. If you've got a prescription, can you just smoke it anywhere? If Oregon'smedical pot law is similar to CA, people get presciptions for plenty of silly reasons (plenty of serious ones too of course). I know a guy who got a prescription for insomnia.
I hate to say get used to it. But it's gonna be legal sooner or later. The medicinal use is just the first step. Even if you called the cops are they even gonna show up for some guys smoking a joint?

Re: Smokeing Dope
Here is my take on it, I smoked pot in my younger days, and I drank my fair share as well. those days are long gone, but I can tell you with a clear concious that alcohol is a way worse drug than marijuana. Lets just put it like this, we`ll take domestic violence for a fer instance. You get people drinking they get balligerant and start beating down and throwing stuff. You smoke a doob and the only fighting thats gonna happen is the fight over the last bite of the snickers bar. bar fights, drinking and driving. I`ve been close to two differant people, and in seperate instances were killed by drunk drivers. Had a co-worker go head on into a 100 yr old oak tree killing himself, his girlfriend and two other people in the back seat. I think alcohol should be what is illegal to posess, I think Its only a matter of time before pot is legalized. And to the point of this post, those yahoos at McDonalds needed to get a good tune up if you know what I mean. totally crass, no respect for other people. I work at a corrections facility and I can truely say that alcohol is one of the main reasons we stay at near capacity.
Hey NORSKI, what was up with staying outside the fenceline today and not coming into the facility? were ya packin or something . See ya next week brother!

Re: Smokeing Dope
Rip your missing the point...
Alchohol is not and should not be deemed illegal to posses by your rational over MJ. The examples you give are of people not having a problem with drinking but a problem with drinking and then driving, which of course ends in a bad way. The same bad ending would and does end with smoking weed and getting behind the wheel. Like you I have seen it both ways.
The effects of brew and the effects of pot are no doubt different with every individual...neither one should be behind the wheel...neither one should be puffin in the drive-thru and neither one should be beatin the spouse...the difference regarding this post is pot is currently illegal.

...In most cases at least. Really I don't see weed as any worse than alcohol, legal or not.. but I think it's inappropriate for either to be consumed in front of a mcdonalds. It's just classless.

Re: Smokeing Dope
I sure am glad that the official charge for "drunk driving" is Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, because then it captures all the chemical impacts. Booze, illegal drugs, prescription drugs, it covers it all. Drive while impaired...your smallest risk is loss of your license. I just pray that you don't kill me or anyone I love.
We could counter such brazen public use with public acknowledgement...call em out on it. Even if they just laugh at you and walk off, it will have an effect. Tell 'em what you think!

Talking politics is not allowed on Ifish.
Talking pot is talking politics.
Prescription pain killers are becoming an epidemic in our schools. We have lost two kids in our area in the last two years to RX pain killer overdose but, no one is going to take on the Pharmaceutical industry, are they??
I've never heard of anyone overdosing and dyeing from pot.

Re: Smokeing Dope
I think it's just bad manners. I wouldn't drink beer in the parking lot (except at say a football game or a rodeo), so I wouldn't smoke a joint there, either. It's sad to say, but bad manners are pretty common these days.

I agree with Hilton! There are times and places for everything, and smoking tweed blantently in public is poor judgment and shows how much common sense people have! Medical/Leagal or not BE RESPECTFUL of others around you and especially there KIDS!!!!
I would much rather deal wth abunch of smiling happy Potheads Than abounch of unruly dangerous drunks!

Re: Smokeing Dope
Larger events have specified MM areas, its required, but not publicized much. Folks with cards are aware of the restrictions of where they should be administering their medication.

Re: Smokeing Dope
We do not allow the debate of whether pot should be legal or not, because in the process it ends up condoning an illegal act. As we cannot have the debate without doing so, this discussion is closed.
