Default McNary 11-1-01 to 11-2-01

Just when you think steelheading is
gonna die down, the full moon kicks
in. Fished with my buddy Gary last
night. We had close to 25 rips with 15
solid hookups. We landed 10 fish. 3
were natives, with the other seven
being hatchery fish. What I call a rip
is when the rod doubles over and the
fish runs with the plug and then lets
go without a hook staying pinned. I
have never seen as much fish activity
as I did last night. If we would have
landed all those fish we would have
easily surpassed our record of 20 on
and 16 landed for steelhead. Plenty of
the fish last night jumped at least 8
times! It doesn't get much better that
this.
RT,
There is a lot to be said about 70%
Isopropyl alcohol. I would have never
believed it if I hadn't seen it with
my own eyes!

What is the "70%
Isopropyl alcohol" thing about?

Wetaline,
Check out the post RT made on Bobs Piscatorial Pursuits. It is a scent additive. Its all about dispersal. Worked real well on my recipe for the special secret shrimp sauce. Rt is on to something.

Does the isopropyl alchol work for other species besides steelhead? I want to try is espicially for sturgeon. The concept is very interesting. So the smell of the isopropyl does not scare the fish? Cant beleive I rembered something from organic chemistry.

I to shared the water with Steve on Thusrday night. what a treat, got on the water about 8:15 motored over to the Wa. side had lines out for about 10 mins. when my rod went off 8# nate. 15 min later 12# hatchery and 10 min. later a match in all we had 6 on landed all six. 3 keepers 3 wild and off the water by 12:30 due to a drained trolling battery.spent to night in the parking lot, which was not a good idea. they have the brightest lot lights i've every tried to sleep under. got up and hit it in the am. it went from about twenty boats on thursday night to close to 100 on friday am. guys lined up to the road waiting to get in. pretty slow during the day after seeing what happens at night. Steve(fear no fish) is hard core to say the least.don't plan on comming off the water until your out of bait or the sun starts to rise. a true night creature. I never would of had the great time if it wasn't for his post and e-mail that followed, which did everything but hold my hand. you may want to add the phrase after "FEAR NO FISH,ONLY BARGES" lol. also my son(11) caught his first steelhead 9# keeper. many many thanks Steve for your help and info I'm sure our paths will cross again..
Sam

Bumper Chrome,
I'm glad you guys got into them.
Pretty easy place to fish. Ya gotta
watch out for those high speed
tugboat racers. I will be back out
tonight to hammer em. See ya on the
water.
Billfish,
Was that sitting or was that laying?
I thought I had something wrong with
the trolling motor a couple of times.
It kept making a Zzzzz,Zzzzz noise!
