Default Block Heaters

Has anyone ever used a block heater to winterize their inboard? I have a 351 inboard jet and I was wondering if a block heater is o.k. or should I just drain the heat exchanger after each use.

Thanks,
Steve

A block heater is useful for reducing condensation and oil contamination by water. It might even prevent your water jacket and manifolds from freezing. In really cold places it greatly helps that first start of the day. Warm oil circulates better and wear is reduced as a result.

But why take a chance? Drain anything that might freeze and skip replacing your freeze broke motor next spring.
