I am probably beating a dead horse by now, but I am hoping that this topic reaches as many people as possible. It has spent enough time at the bottom of the screen on CNN, a very brief mention in a few of Bush's recent speechs, and should be brought to the forefront.
This is an email that I sent today to Lars Larson (KXL 750 talkshow host from 12Noon-4 in Portland, Oregon). For those of you who haven't followed along on this subject, please refer to the two ifish postings below, then read on (if you haven't gotten tired of reading yet, they are quite long.)

Lars:
Last week I asked you your opinion on ANWR. I wasn't happy with it.
So let's say we don't use all that oil in 6 months. How long would we use it for I might ask. 1 year...5 years...10 years? Is it worth even just 1 oil spill?
Let's say for example we use that oil for 10 years. Remember, there is only a 6 months supply.
We IMPORT 12million each day.
Our daily consumption is 18million barrels per day.
18mb x 6months=3,240,000,000 (3.2 billion) barrels.
3.2billion barrels over , let's say, 10 years, we could cut our need of importing oil by 888,000 barrels. BIG DEAL!
I don't know the numbers on conservation, but I would hope or imagine that conservation and alternative fuels alone or combined could save 888,000 barrels a day.
This is not about lowering our import of oil, or reliance on foreign oil, it is about MONEY.
Let's face it, can you honestly tell me that President Bush has absolutely no personal gain from this if it passes?
I would love to see you tackle this debate on your program, someday soon hopefully, before we pass this idiotic legislation. Please inform me if you do.
I would like for you to read the information on these two message postings. I would hope to change your mind.
